Jacqueline Shorter B.A., J.D.
Vancouver Family and Traffic Lawyer Jacqueline was born and raised in Vancouver. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Victoria and attended law school at Bond University in Australia.
Jacqueline has experience practicing law overseas. After graduating from law school, and prior to returning to Canada, Jacqueline worked at a busy criminal defence firm on the Gold Coast. She regularly appeared in both district and Magistrate courts.
During her articles in Canada, Jacqueline gained experience in family law, criminal law and driving law. She also volunteered with the Battered Woman’s Support Services in the legal advocacy department.
Since her call to the bar in 2016, she has continued to represent clients in a variety of capacities, ranging from criminal to traffic to family law.
Through the course of her career, Jacqueline has appeared in courts throughout the lower mainland. She has assisted clients with their traffic court matters, driving prohibitions and driving suspensions. Jacqueline is well-versed in the ins and outs of traffic court and has extensive knowledge about both Motor Vehicle Act and Motor Vehicle Regulations offences. She has also worked closely with senior lawyers handling a wide range of family law and criminal matters in both Provincial Court and Supreme Court.
However, the bulk of Jacqueline’s practice has been with respect to family law issues. Jacqueline understands the difficulties and distress that her clients are often facing. Jacqueline approaches her clients cases with care and compassion, while working diligently to achieve their goals. Jacqueline has successfully negotiated settlements, marriage, and cohabitation agreements, as well as represented clients at mediation's and hearings.
Jacqueline accepts legal aid cases for both family and criminal matters. For her paying clients, her fees are always reasonable and accessible.
In her spare time, Jacqueline enjoys food and wine. She loves trying new recipes at home and dining out.
