Jessica Cox, J.D.

Jessica is from Fort McMurray, Alberta. A graduate of the University of British Columbia’s Allard School of Law, her educational background is underpinned by a unique prior career in the legal sector. Most notably, Jessica previously served as a Justice of the Peace at the Fort McMurray Provincial Courthouse. She also worked at the Edmonton Bail Hearing Office, where she gained a deep understanding of the complexities involved in pre-trial detention and release. Jessica’s previous work experience has equipped her with wealth of experience and knowledge in both the legal and social justice sectors.
Jessica is also very active in her community. As a Métis person, Jessica has had the opportunity to work with Indigenous persons throughout her career. She has worked alongside an Indigenous child welfare lawyer and has assisted in establishing several Indigenous justice centres across the province.
During her legal career, Jessica concentrated on criminal law with a specialized focus in Aboriginal law. She is dedicated to providing assistance through a culturally appropriate approach, ensuring that the legal needs of her clients are met with respect and understanding.
